So a precis is a concise summary. It usually refers to material that has been read because it should be backed up with reference to the original document.
When reading though your research material or chosen literature, make sure you highlight all the important facts. Once you have identified the ones that you feel are relevant, draft up a simple summary. After you have checked and edited your summary, remove any creative sentences and concentrate only on the facts. A precis is a small summary, clear and to the point. Remember to include your reference to the original document.
